Bière de Miel is made with acacia honey, which is known in Belgium for its delicate floral aroma. Bière de Miel has a light golden color and a wonderful aroma of honeycomb, complemented by notes of orange and citrus. Its rich flavor might suggest that the beer is sweet, but the finish is almost bone-dry with a distinct hop bitterness. The Dupont Brewery first brewed this beer in the 1880s. The style subsequently fell into oblivion but was revived in 1997 by brewer Olivier DeDeycker. We find this beer delicious with mild fish dishes and a cheese board with dried fruit and nuts.
